Viva Forever: A Spice Girls Musical

Viva_Forever_Spice_Girls_Musical_mylucban.com

Have you ever heard of “Spice Girls”? I hit puberty listening to their songs.  Haha! And I think the Spice Girls gained another fan here, my daughter. I introduced her to their music a few months ago while we were browsing music videos in YouTube. I heard her singing again this morning, she keep on singing my favorite spice girl song, “Mama”. I like it every time she sings that part “Mama I love you”, she smiles and looks at me, and that’s the only part she understands, ahhaha!

I suddenly feel nostalgic, because that’s the song I always play everytime my mom and I fight. So anyways, I had free time early this morning, so I wanted to catch up with my favorite girl band. Last thing I heard was that they had a reunion 3 or four years ago and they had a short-lived North American spice girl tour. It was short-lived because they need to attend to their mom duties especially for Geri, Mel C. and Emma who are newly moms back then.

As I was browsing, I saw this documentary-slash-behind-the-scenes musical named after their song Viva Forever. It’s a musical based on Spice girls’ songs. It’s about a story of a girl named Viva, and her adventures chasing her dreams to become a well-known artist in  the cut throat music industry, it’s also about her complex relationship with her mama. Sounds familiar huh? Heheh! Oh and did you know that it’s produced by Judy Craymer and Jennifer Saunders, who also produced another hit musical “Mamma Mia”.

Operation Facebook Clean-up

“Admit it guys, most of the friends that we have in Facebook are only just our friends in Facebook..”

A former classmate posted that on our highschool group page. I’m not sure if he’s having a bad day or what his intentions were when he posted that but I liked that post. I’m actually guilty of friend-hoarding in Facebook. I am mostly guilty about accepting friend request from people I really don’t like, thinking that it would offend them if I ignore their requests.

And since my profile name begins with an A, I’m receiving a lot of irritating game/application requests from my Facebook friends, whom I’m really not friends with in real life. And then you have here nosy relatives who like killing your posts, spying you, waiting for you to make a mistake so that they have something to talk about. Then on your newsfeed, you have these annoying Facebook posts, explicit sexual images, angry rants, violent gruesome news, making you all bummed and stressed out.

Sitting on the chair in the office can be really tiring. Sometimes, when you have too many things on your desk, you’re doing a lot of things at the same time, it gets to you. You are too drained, your brains are all scattered all over the place, you can’t finish your projects, you can’t think for a second because you’re having headaches, eyestrain, backaches to deal with. It’s all stress!

Sometimes we overthink things on how to finish certain task right away, and sometimes the only way we can accomplish all the work is by having a clear relax mind.

I stumbled upon a piece of paper this morning when I was cleaning out my drawer. It was the interview spiel I used when I was about to attend my very first real job interview.

My first job was in a call centre in Makati. I worked as a Technical Support Representative for OCR and Speech Recognition software. It was hard to get in and interview was tough. I remembered 2 days before that dreaded interview; I researched the common job interview questions, answered and printed it. Good thing all the questions asked were all in my interview spiel paper. And that’s how I get it in!

Now it’s your turn jobhunters, I’m now giving you my interview spiel. Goodluck!

My Bucket List

I’ve been thinking about making my own bucket list for a quite a while now, and I really don’t know how to make one because the first bucket list I made is full of material things I want. I even wrote a Barbie house I always wanted when I was a kid. When my husband read it out loud, he said it sounded more like a wishlist to Santa than a bucket list.

I wanted to watch “The Bucket List” movie again, so I can get an idea on what to put on my bucket list. I searched the internet to download that movie, but then I came across this wonderful site full of bucket list ideas. I jot down the things I like and cross out the things I already did.As I was reading each one, I came across this one line that says, “Do something that scares you”.

I’m afraid of a lot of things. I want to put everything there but what is it exactly that I want to accomplish? What fear do I want to overcome? Ok maybe I’ll figure that out as I jot down my bucket list.

So here they are:

Things Most People Lie About and Why

The story is out. The now disgraced Lance Armstrong just confessed to Oprah that he did take performance enhancing drugs to win those 7 Tour de France titles. Sad but true. His career is just one big lie. It’s like Milli-Vanilli-big-fat-lie! If it weren’t for the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to find out and banned him for his beloved sport, he wouldn’t dare to confess. How could he do such thing? Anyways I don’t want to dwell on the Lance Armstrong doping confession. We all lie come ‘on, we lie to tell a joke, to cover for a friend, to make someone feel better, and sometimes we do it to escape punishment and for Lance Armstrong it’s for personal gain.
